This is a coffee you could drink several cups of every day. It is round and smooth, and not as challenging as our more fruity and acidic driven coffee, therefore we put it into the category "COMFORTABLE". Light roasted specialty coffee, but round and smooth.

Gloria  is a fourth-generation coffee farmer who owns both Finca Nejapa and Finca Nueva Granada, which she inherited from her father 22 years ago. We have been buying from Finca Nejapa for many, years, but it is the first time we present a coffee from Finca Nueva Granada. . Ever the strong woman, Gloria has overcome gender barriers in an industry that has historically been the province of men and personally supervises every step at the farm level.

Gloria Rodrigues and her son-in-law, Luis Rodrigues, make a dream team in their business. Their hard work and skills have really paid off in the quality of their product. Luis is the best on varietals and agriculture we know, and Gloria is hard work and structures the business hands-on. By working together, they can maintain and potentially improve the working conditions as well as the cup profile.

About Finca Nueva Granada
Gloria is a fourth-generation coffee farmer. The story began in 1815 when José María Rodriguez and Josefina Rodriguez (the great-grandparents of Gloria) planted the first coffee trees with their own hands. Nueva Granada is one of five small coffee farms Gloria owns and runs. We have been buying from her farm Finca Nejapa for many, many years, but it is the first time we present a coffee from Finca Nueva Granada, which was originally purchased in 1987 by Gloria’s father, Jose Maria, who recognized it held great potential. Since taking over, Nueva Granada has become a very important part of the Rodriguez family. Gloria took over ownership of the farm from her father in 1995, at which time she envisioned differentiating each of her farms by name. In a very fast period of time, Gloria transformed Nueva Granada into a lush, productive coffee farm. Ever the strong woman, Gloria has overcome gender barriers in an industry that has historically been the province of men and personally supervises every step at the farm level.

Sustainability
As a charity project, we did a dinner with WINETRADE and Mathias Dahlgren where all the money went straight to installing electricity and water filters to one of the other farms by Luis and Gloria, Finca Nejapa. Visiting years after this, it is great to see the families living by the plot of the farms improved living conditions. See more in my chat with Gloria and Luis Roudriguez about it here
