Colombia Condor

Here at Hasbean, we're always on the lookout for tasty and delicious decaf. It can sometimes be a little tricky to get our hands on, but we aim to always have at least 1 decaffeinated coffee available at all times.

As crops come and go during the year, our decaf offering changes and rolls with the seasons - right now it is a washed Caturra called 'Condor' from El Vergel in Tolima, Colombia that has been decaffeinated using sugar cane. Please note - if you sign up for a recurring subscription to this coffee, you will always be sent our current decaf offering which occasionally changes throughout the year.

This coffee comes from El Vergel which is a farm spread across the mountains of Colombia in the Department of Tolima. It rests on El Vergel, or Black Mountain, which is an inactive volcano which has created some of the most nutrient rich soil in the whole department - perfect for growing tasty and delicious coffee. If you'd like to find out a little more about El Vergel, make sure to check out their Instagram @vergelestate.

Something we're really happy to share about this lot is that it was decaffeinated in Colombia and while this might not sound remarkable, we think it is! Most coffee is sent off to be decaffeinated in either Canada or Germany which adds a lot of miles to the journey those little green beans are taking, we think it's fantastic to be able to decaffeinate at origin and not only save on carbon footprint but also to give more work to those closest to where the trees grow.

This coffee is decaffeinated using sugar cane and you may sometimes see this method referred to as 'SC Decaf" with the SC standing for sugar cane. The decaffeination agent ethyl acetate is naturally derived from sugar cane.

There's a sweetness like light syrup which fills the cup, but is balanced by a mixed fruitiness of light peach and pineapple notes. A hint of crumbled chocolate on the finish balances and complements it.
