Small lots from the Daye Bensa wet mill in Shantawene village have appeared on offer lists from some of the world's best roasters in 2020 and for good reason. This particular lot manages to exhibit all of the clean and ethereal qualities of good washed Ethiopians while also distinguishing itself with an intense and syrupy berry-like sweetness. It is fun yet structured and notably refreshing to drink for such a sweet coffee.
In 2020 the Shantawene washing station wone 7th place in the Ethiopian Cup Of Excellence competition.
Daye Bensa is a coffee exporting company founded in 2006 by brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo. Their own farm is located in the heart of Shantawene Village within a natural forrest with indigenous trees thought to be over 200 years old. it is here they produce cherry for milling as well as working with smallholders in neighbouring farms to source high quality cherry for processing.
This is our first coffee from Daye Bensa and will be followed with some selections of this year's best naturally processed lots too.
