September Coffee - Nguisse Nare, Ethiopia Natural JARC14158
This is our first time featuring a coffee from Nguisse Nare, a respected producer from the Bensa region. This specific lot was produced and processed with the help of Nguisse's neighbours.

In the cup
In the cup we taste fresh field blueberries, sweet stonefruit, and delicate purple florals reminiscent of lavender and lilac. This coffee has a round body and a sweet finish.
About the producer
Nguisse Nare is a part of a small number of single origin producers who dedicate time and resources to improving natural processing and harvesting of traceable single origins in Ethiopia. Nguisse grows JARC 74158, taro, and sweet potato. He focuses on natural and anaerobic processing, often processing coffee cherries grown and collected by his neighbours in addition to his own.
Processing
The Setame farm has its own drying station, which gives Nguisse control over the process from start to finish. The cherries for this lot are collected, floated, and then dried slowly for approximately 20 days, resulting in a deeply sweet and complex cup.
Varietal
The Jimma Agricultural Research Centre (JARC), one of Ethiopia's federal agricultural research centers, approved the release of 74158 in 1979. The variety originally came out of the Metu Bishari Selections taken from mother plants from the Metu Woreda (district) of the Illuababor zone. 74158 was selected and propagated for its high yield potential and resistance to coffee berry disease.
